Camembert cheese is a very tasty creamy soft cheese from the Normandy region of France, traditionally made from unpasteurised cow’s milk, but now available in pasteurised form. It’s distinguished by its white edible rind.

Camembert, as with most cheeses, provides a very good source of calcium and protein. The fat content is high, but less than some cheeses, approx. 24g per 100g. Sodium levels though, are high, so be careful you don’t overdo your salt intake.

Camembert also provides a source of vitamins A, B1-B3, B5, B6, B12, D, E, K, phosphorus, selenium, zinc and other minerals. It’s great for healthy bones and teeth. Other Camembert cheese benefits may include added protection against colon cancer, given the presence of vitamin D3.

Cheese in general contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). Studies of CLA have shown that it helps with weight loss.
