The fruit was originally called the Chinese Gooseberry, then renamed “Melonette”, then “Kiwifruit” by New Zealand exporters, and finally shortened and simply known as Kiwi.
Kiwi contains twice the amount of vitamin C than an orange, more fiber than apples, and is a rich source of potassium and vitamin E. Being both low in calories and a very good source of dietary fiber, makes it the perfect fruit for weight loss, as fiber is very good for filling you up and suppressing your appetite.
Other Kiwi benefits include the ability to reduce high cholesterol levels, which may reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.
We have two calorie tables below depending on the type of kiwi you are eating. See our fruit calories comparison chart to compare the calories in Kiwi with the other calories in fruit.
