A Pineapple is a large juicy tropical fruit with sweet yellow flesh and a prickly skin. Pineapple is used widely in desserts, salads, cocktails, and as a compliment to meat dishes. Pineapple juice is often used as a marinade to make meat tender as it contains Bromelain.
Bromelain contains a digestive enzyme which breaks down protein and can enhance the digestion process. Also, Pineapples are a rich source of vitamins and are relatively low in calories.
Before eating a pineapple, it's often a good idea to keep it upside down for a couple of days. This is because the bottom of the pineapple is sweeter and turning it the other way up will distribute the sugars.
