The grapefruit diet menu has existed for nearly a hundred years. This diet also goes by the names of 10-pounds-off diet and the Hollywood diet. In the 1970s the diet was rebranded again as “the Mayo Clinic Diet”, though the Mayo Clinic does not want to be associated with this diet. This 12 day grapefruit diet is based on the consumption of grapefruit as it thought to have fat burning properties.
There are various versions of the grapefruit diet menu, and in the majority of cases, only a limited number of vegetables and fluid are allowed for the three main meals and the evening snack.
The traditional grapefruit diet plan can be followed with either the duration of: one week, 12 days or three weeks. Some variants of the plan suggest some exercise during the period, whilst other plans do not mention exercise. |
WARNING: Please be aware that if you are taking medication, you should seek the advice of your doctor / physician, before starting this diet as research has shown that grapefruit juice may interact badly and impact your health.
